1, Solids control equipment processing capacity is insufficient
When solids control equipment can not handle all of drilling fluid flowing to its mud tank, there must be a part of the drilling fluid to bypass the device. If there is no consideration of the flow rate of the mud gun, there will be some drilling fluid to bypass the device.
2, Coarse solid particles removed by drilling fluid cleaner screen back into the system
When all the drilling fluid of a solid control equipment flow back to the system, it means nothing separated. Solid particles on the drilling mud cleaner screen must be cleared away.
3, The vacuum degasser is placed downstream of the hydrocyclones
If the degasser placed after the solids control equipment need centrifugal pump supplying drilling mud, when it comes to gas invasion, air-resistor of centrifugal pump may occur. Gas invasion of drilling mud will make centrifugal pump flow reduction, reduce the efficiency of hydrocyclone. If there is any harmful gas, it is recommended to remove it in the first tank, rather than remove the harmful gas until the third or fourth tank.
4, Desilter and desander share the same aspiration slurry tank
Desilter and desander share the same aspiration slurry tank, in this case, about half of the drilling mud handled by desilter. Desander handle another half of drilling fluid. It means half of the drilling fluid pumped into the well in without treatment by desander,another half drilling fluid isn't treated by desilter. This against the basic concepts of continuous sequentially processed. Desander can't reduce the solid phase load for desilter effectively.
5,Two centrifugal sand pumps in parallel to supply drilling mud for the same solid control equipment
This is the common situation in the drilling fluid solid control system arrangement. If the pressure head at 30m, the funnel nozzle flow 25L / s, two sand pumps of 30m pressure head in parallel, the flow rate through the nozzle remains 25L / s.
If a pump is not up to the pressure head required by device, there can not increase another pump side by side. We need to check whether the pump is in good working condition. If the pump is in good working condition, but has not yet reached the required pressure head, it is necessary to change with a larger impeller.
Select larger sand pump(or impeller), the requirements of the motor power is greater, and a slight increase in traffic of centrifugal pump. Therefore, the motor need to be checked wether has sufficient power before installation of the large wheel. If it has reached the pressure head required by equipment, you need to replace the equipment with larger handling ability(hydrocyclones for drilling mud configuration), or increase cyclone cones (desander or desilter)when it need flow. This also requires greater power, it may require a larger impeller,too.
