How to choose the mud gun of the corresponding pressure?

Mud Gun is designed for using in a solids control system. It is a tool which is mainly used for mixing drilling mud in the circulatory system and to prevent the mud from precipitating. The structure of equipment is simple offering flexible operation and easy use. A mud gun is commonly used to guard against precipitates in a solids control system. The mud gun is installed in a mud tank.

The mud gun also can be called Mud mixing gun. As we know it is usually used together with mud agitator as mixers for oil & gas drilling solids control system.

Mud gun is considered to be one of the longest lasting on the market today. With a nozzle insert lined with engineered elastomer, the mud gun will not wear as easily as common steel inserts. Worrying less about the wear on mud guns means worrying less about the wear on mud pumps. Mission mud guns are an inexpensive solution to a potentially expensive problem. The mud gun is simple in design and structure. Usually all turning takes place on double rows of steel balls in flame hardened races. There is nothing to tighten or adjust. Flow is unrestricted and pressure drop is minimum.

In the drilling solids control system, we often see the mud gun installed inner the mud tank. Though it is simple in structure, it plays an irreplaceable role in the system.

First, it is applied together with mud agitator to prevent the mud precipitating so that the homogeneous mud could be transferred or treated. Mud gun could spray the mud to the tank corner which the agitator can’t reach.

Secondly, the active mud could be added in the selected tank through the mud gun pipeline.

In different mud system, the power source of mud gun is different either. In general condition, for the mud system for oil drilling rig and work-over rig, the mud gun is often driven by mud pump, the pressure is higher. While in small mud system for HDD and CBM, no needing the mud pump. Therefore, the mixing pump will be used as the mud gun source. Correspondingly, the pressure is lower.

Sometime, if the inner space of the tank is not large enough, we only choose one of the mud gun and agitator, it all depends on our purpose. For example, in the small pill tank, we only install one unit mud agitator.
