The oil sludge treatment plan and process developed by oil companies represent the complete and systematic solution to separating sludge for environmentally safe disposal. Oil sludge is a major pollutant generated during various stages of oilfield operations, such as drilling, fracturing, well testing, production, crude oil processing, oily wastewater treatment, and storage and transportation of petroleum. If not properly and promptly treated, it can severely impact soil health and degrade the quality of the surrounding environment.
KOSUN's sludge treatment solution has been successfully used in many petroleum enterprises to realize high-efficiency separation of oil sludge. It integrates various advanced technologies: the conditioning and dehydration of sludge, low-temperature pyrolysis, and the use of pyrolysis residues as fuel; thus, these have formed a comprehensive, multi-technology treatment approach.
Technical Process Overview
A pH regulator is added to the sludge to adjust the pH in a range of 7-8. Then, inorganic and organic flocculants are added for dehydration. The oil-bearing sludge produced is then fed into a low-temperature pyrolysis unit. The gas generated during the pyrolysis process is collected for recycling, while the oil and water obtained are further treated with an oil-water separator. Recovered oil will be stored for re-use, while the separated water will be discharged to the wastewater facility or re-used by the oil field water recycling system. The solid residue obtained from pyrolysis is treated in the fuel preparation unit by adding ignition agents, combustion accelerators, binders, and desulfurizers to produce reusable fuel. This integrated solution effectively responds to various technological challenges in the process of oil sludge treatment from an oilfield or petrochemical company. It is more suitable for sludge with oil content above 10% and moisture content over 70%. The process ensures environmentally safe treatment, recovers crude oil from sludge, and promotes the reuse of useful resources.
