Mud agitator is an important part of the mud solids control system. It is mounted on the circulating tank. The vanes of the agitator dip into the mud to agitate the fluid uniformly.
Drilling mud agitator drive structure is mainly composed of motor, reducer, coupling and mixing shaft. The most common types of drilling mud agitator in solids control equipment is not much.
The following is two types of mud agitator:
Gear drive structure mud agitator: the advantage is higher transmission efficiency; shortcoming is larger volume, not easy to maintain. Gear drive can be divided into direct drive and belt drive.
Bevel gear drive structure mud agitator: has the advantage of simple structure, but also has many shortcomings. For example: due to drive ratio restriction, if you want to get slow-speed of revolution drilling mud agitator, must be through the pulley to do a larger reduction, the results not only low efficiency, but also large volume. This kind of structure is rare in drilling mud agitator. At present most used mud agitator is still worm and gear drive. Worm and gear direct drive has the advantage of simple structure, large gear ratio, high reliability, widely used in mud cleaning system.
Gear reducers are worm type or helibevel type depending on the choice of the user.

KOSUN Mud Agitator combines compact design with high torque performance levels necessary for a uniformly suspended flow of drilled solids throughout the mud systems. Powered by 1500RPM (4 pole) explosion proof motor and connected through heavy duty gear reducer, this agitator transfers high torque at RPM to Impeller to perform the most severe mud mixing conditions.

3.Available in 3,5,7 1/2 , 10 , 15 , 20, 25 and 30 hp models .
4.Oversized shaft bearings are used for longer gearbox life and lower maintenance requirements .
5.Cast iron housings are one-piece , reinforced and ribbed for exra strengh .
6.Detachable impeller shaft for ease of servicing without disassembling unit .
7.Simple mounting .Agitator base rests on tanks structural cross beams held by six bolts .
8.Electric motors : Class 1 ,Group D .Class 11 , Groups F&Gexplosion-proof electric motors are available in 50 or 60 Hz .
9.All internal shafts are heated treated and ground for high loading capacity .No grease fittings .
10.All internal TMLL bearing run in oil.
Application
The function of the agitator is to keep drilling fluid performance is stable, so the agitator impeller discharge fluid must be in tank suspending solid phase up faster than settling velocity and impeller diameter and speed given agitator work volume is certain.
Agitator make its work volume within the drilling fluid circulating agitation one time is called the cycle time and cycle time is commonly 30-90 s. in solid control system, placed shale shaker, etc of the drilling fluid solids control single tank and drilling pump on tank should take little value, to ensure that the drilling fluid performance stability.
