Mud agitator mainly mixes and concocts drilling fluids for the purposes of stopping the solid particles from precipitating in tank circulating system and maintaining stable mud properties as well as even concoction. Agitation is very significant in accelerating the reaction, dissolution and wetting of drilling fluids materials(such as, bentonite, barite) and chemical agents. And it also enlarges the contact area of phase interface for the reason of quickening the interaction between two phases.

Drilling mud agitator, as a tank equipment in drilling solids control system consists of reducer and explosion-proof electric motor, has got dominant application in mud mixing and concoction. It is easy to keep up, and suitable to operate in terrible outdoor working conditions. Its large agitating strength can extend to a large scale of drilling fluids and greatly reduce resisting moments when it starts. The plate surrounded by blades prevent solids from gathering together around lower blades, reduce resisting moments against blades and avoid burning the electric motor during overload start up process.

The above impeller is inclined blade, for the below is straight blade type. Above impeller will gain mud pressure on work, the straight blade provide thrust, which makes the vane of mud more uniform, and not easy to grit. Mud agitator is the commonly used equipment in drilling solid control system, usually on top of the mud tank (circulating mud tank, feeding tank, medicine tank). Mud agitator is used to prevent drilling fluids solid phase particle from deposition in the tank circulation system, making the circulating drilling fluids performance stable, mixed evenly.
